To Dye or Not to Dye

A few years ago my quilting ‘mini’ group, “Loose Threads”, inspiration for the name coming from the fact that we are sometimes ‘not all there’, lol, decided that we wanted to dye our own quilting fabric.

One of our members had experience in dying, and supervised our efforts.   She ordered the dye from Dharma Trading Company  at  and mixed it up for us, according to their specs.   We dyed the fabric in gallon ziploc bags, which worked very well, and was not too messy.

We have since done this several times.  Here is a pic of our latest dye job.  Two of our members missed our ‘show and share’.   Mine is the group in the front – the pic I use on this site to indicate a quilt topic, is also of my dyed fabric.

The first time we did this, we decided to join together to use our new fabric in a group project, and I will tell you about that in my next post.

A few posts ago, I spoke about how stopping what you are doing and focusing on your breath going in and out of your body will help in ‘de-stressing’ yourself.  Here is a cute animation that takes you through the process.

Here is basic training in One-Moment Meditation – helping you reduce stress, focus better, and find a bit of peace … quickly.

  1. Your dyed fabrics are gorgeous! I haven’t done this yet, but seeing all your wonderful new fabrics I am getting very tempted!
