Stretching Mind and Body

What I love most about the quilts of Gee’s Bend is the raw energy that seems to reach out from them and grab at my heart.   Here is a link to a rather long article on Improvisational Quilts, which, like the quilts of Gee’s Bend, arise from the African-American community.   They are stunning and absolutely amazing – and nothing like any quilting I have ever done.   Looking at the pics of these quilts stretches my mind almost to bursting.
The Beautiful Chaos of Improvisational Quilts
And here is a wondrous display of Gee’s Bend quilts.
What does your cat or dog do first thing on waking up from a nap?  Stretch.  It’s something We should get in the habit of doing.   This is something easy to add to a daily routine – even while you are sitting at the computer, just raise your arms up into the air, bring them down to each side, reaching as far as you can…. aaaaahhhh…..
The benefits of stretching:
  • Reduced muscle tension
  • Increased range of movement in the joints
  • Enhanced muscular coordination
  • Increased circulation of the blood to various parts of the body
  • Increased energy levels (resulting from increased circulation)

One more time – Reeeeach for the stars……
